Background:
Surrounded by green land to the north of Bury, the school is situated in a village which has become a commuter hamlet for the surrounding conurbations. The open and friendly Christian school at the heart of the community' was built in 1868 and the building has 'retained most of its characters'. An extension was added in 1999, some of the costs covered by funds raised by the very strong and active parent teacher association. A full curriculum is taught with English and mathematics each morning. Wide range of extra-curricular activities is offered, from Le Petit Club Francais to sports, arts, drama, music and ITC. Traditional links with the church and community remains strong. There is a family feel to the school where the school respects, value and work hard for each other. The school is proud of Inclusion Award which acknowledges the work on inclusion. St Mary's is a small school where every child is valued as an individual. Each child has the opportunity to shine and blossom in the caring environment. St Mary's is a happy place to be!
