Background:
Founded in 1915, the school serves the parish of St Mary Magdalen's. It has been extended three times, most recently in 1990, and offers 'very good' classroom facilities, an 'excellent, well-equipped' hall and a large field area. The school has a 'consistently good reputation in the area for high standards in academic subjects, sport and behaviour'. Teams from the school are currently local football and netball champions. After-school clubs include music tuition, a variety of sports and a choir. There are strong links with the church and local community and a 'very active' Friends of the School Association. There is a strong tradition of fundraising for charities such as CAFOD and Red Nose Day.
