Background:
St Clare's Catholic Primary school was founded in early 1970s and is a one-level 70s style building which has been extended as numbers have grown. A new play area for foundation stage and refurbishment of the playground has taken place in summer 2004. The school is currently involved in introducing French as part of the extended curriculum. After-school activities range from football to chess and include French and Spanish lessons. The school was winner of the Preston schools Triathlon Shield, won the Lancashire schools book quiz in 2001 and was second in the kwik cricket tournament at old Trafford cricket ground. Numerous charities are supported by school with a grand harvest festival providing food for the local community. St Clare's is a Catholic school with an ethos of support, care, love and forgiveness.
