Background:

Walton-le-Dale High School is situated in a pleasant location on the edge of Bamber Bridge. The school's facilities include well-equipped specialist teaching areas, a suite of three networked ICT rooms, design and technology block, a library and learning resource centre, two recently refurbished and re-equipped food technology rooms and five science laboratories. There are two art rooms, an arts theatre and two music rooms. The school also has excellent sports facilities, including gymnasium, a large sports hall, fitness room, playing fields and an all-weather pitch. The school offers a wide range of opportunities for its children. In music free tuition is provided by specialist staff. This varies according to interest but usually includes voice, strings, woodwind, brass, guitar and drum kit. In sports, internal competitions are organised in netball, rounders, soccer, cricket, badminton, basketball and athletics and the school also participates in competitions against other schools. A rich programme of visits and activities is offered. This includes visits to art galleries, castles, museums, theatres, concerts, places of worship and many others. Other experiences available for young people at the school include charity work, conservation work and clubs such as chess, computer, design and technology and textiles clubs. The school aims to create a happy, secure and caring environment, which enables students to learn and mature.
