Background:
Opened in 1972, this single-storey, open-plan school is situated in spacious, open grounds on the edge of Little Lever which was once a village and still retains its distinctive village character. The catchment area varies from owner-occupied property to council property to a travellers' site. The school is proud to serve the parish of St Teresa, academically, spiritually and socially. Depite being small the school's pupils achieve well in sports. Children take part in a number of after school clubs including football, netball, singing, chess and country dancing and the school's pupils are also offered 'very successful' before and after school care. Pupils at St Teresa are 'made aware of their responsibility to those less fortunate' and to this end they support a variety of charities, while the school's 'very active' parents support group raises money for resources. Beacon status (1999); Basic Skills Quality Mark (2000); Investor in People status (2000); DfES achievement award (2000).
