Background:
Sherwood Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is four to 11. It is a relatively new primary school opened in September 1990 by Lancashire Education Authority. The school has a large IT computer suite, which all the children use on a regular weekly basis. The school aims to provide broad and balanced curriculum. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, cricket, hockey and rugby. The school aims to create a happy, caring environment in which children develop self-confidence and independence and are encouraged to be considerate and show respect for others, while reaching their true potential.
