Background:
Penwortham Broad Oak Primary is housed in a building of semi open-plan design, surrounded by two playgrounds, a football field and car park. The school has two main working areas, the infant area and junior area. There is also a large hall equipped with PE apparatus, and a library in the entrance foyer. The school's broad curriculum is based on the National Curriculum. The school also carries out extensive cross-curricular activities through European Awareness Week, Health Week, Industrial Understanding, Italian Week and Citizenship Week. Extra-curricular activities include sports drama, music and science clubs run by teachers after-school hours. These include cross-country, school band, football, cricket, netball, rounders, drama, choir, rugby league and gymnastics among others. Music tuition is also available. The school has a flourishing friends association, which helps to raise funds for school equipment and activities. The school also supports two charities a year. Penwortham Broad Oak School is dedicated to celebrating the success of individuals and groups where they are empowered to exceed their own expectations and to make a valuable contribution to their society.
