Background:

This 'open and friendly' school is situated on the north side of Blackburn, and 26 per cent of its pupils are from ethnic minorities. The large building houses fifteen classrooms, two halls, separate infant and junior libraries, a music room, an information technology work centre and a pottery room. There is also 'good' provision for playground areas and outside sporting activities on the 'large' field. The school's curriculum aims to provide a 'basic preparation for, and education in, the art of living and learning in society'. It also offers a co-ordinator to assist pupils with special educational needs. Tuition is offered in the violin and in woodwind and brass instruments. The school operates in 'close co-operation with parents'.
