Background:
The school was built in 1975 and is accommodated in a single-storey building set in 'pleasant' grounds with a sports field and two 'large' hard play areas. The school has 'high standards' and offers a 'broad and balanced' curriculum. It aims to 'make the most of pupils' abilities and potential' and has 'particular strengths' in ICT, games and PE, recently winning the local netball trophy. The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities and these include football, netball, music, cross-country, athletics, art club, computer club, and skiing. It maintains 'many' links with the local community, high school and industry and has an active friends association which helps to raise funds for the school and organises social events for pupils, staff and parents. The school encourages pupils to raise funds for charity and supports various appeals throughout the year. It always celebrates harvest festival, when the gifts are distributed to the elderly and sick in the local community.
