Background:

Founded in 1924, this is one of the oldest schools in the area. It is housed in a Victorian building which is in good repair, situated in the small village of Denshaw. The school has a steep playing field with mature trees and a tarmac playground. It is extremely well equipped for ICT. After-school computer, football and cricket clubs are offered, and and several boys have been successful in town team trials. All children have regular swimming lessons. Local children comprise the nucleus of the school but, as the village is so small, pupils are also drawn from surrounding areas, mainly suburban, which keeps the school almost fully subscribed. Christ Church has strong links with the community and, as a Church of England school, with the church. Children regularly support the local hospice, Marie Curie and the Royal British Legion.
