Background:

Semi-rural location in west Lancashire town of Skelmersdale; buildings are 30 years' old; two new classrooms and purpose-built nursery added in recent years as numbers have grown. School proud of happy, family atmosphere. Wide variety of extra-curricular clubs. Foreign languages, music and charity work have high priority. The school aims to ensure that children develop their physical potential through wide variety of activities. These include games, dance, gymnastics, swimming, outdoor and adventures, athletics. During their time at the school the children will experience a range of cultural opportunities these will include visits to for example art galleries, places of historical interest, theatres. There are collaborative opportunities for participation in the arts with their local Catholic schools and also with local arts organisation and local groups. In addition to the normal academic curriculum provided by the school all staff of the school help on a voluntary basis to run a wide variety ofschool clubs. Before-school care, from 8am; after-school care, until 5.15pm. Over-subscribed, with two applications per place. Basic Skills Quality Mark (2004); DfES achievement award (2003); Activemark (2006).
