Background:

Previously known as Scarisbrick County Primary, Pinfold Primary is a small rural school situated between Ormskirk and Southport, which dates back to the 1870s. Recent building work has provided a new entrance area, office and staff room. There is a wildlife garden and quiet seating area in the playground as well as recycle bins for paper, aluminium cans and tinfoil. There are two large classrooms, one of which is connected with the hall by a screen, and both of which are well-equipped, with 'modern resources'. A new communication resource area was set up in summer 2003. This houses a library, ICT suite, including interactive whiteboard and a working area. There is a ratio of 1:3 computers to pupils. The hall is used for PE and drama, as well as acting as a dining room. There is an active Friends of Pinfold which raises money to benefit the pupils. It offers inclusive,'individual and small group teaching in a happy and secure atmosphere'. Pupils are 'friendly and caring' and learn from an early age to 'respect each other and to become independent'.
