Background:

Nelson Edge End High School is a secondary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 11 to 16. The school currently occupies a site at the top of Hibson Road in a pleasant part of Nelson. The attractive front of the building is surpassed by extensive playing fields and the magnificent views of Pendle Hill and the surrounding countryside. The central area of the school is built around four quadrangles thereby allowing easy access to classrooms based subjects. There is a purpose-built music room with practice rooms and a recording studio. The school competes in all year-groups in major sports such as hockey, cricket, netball, football, rounders, badminton and athletics. Pupils are encouraged to participate in many other activities and educational visits. These include chess, public speaking, ice-skating, theatre visits, Shakespeare Days, mini enterprise groups, field trips and foreign holidays. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere.
