Background:

Founded in 1710, the school moved to its present site in 1869 and occupies buildings, which have been considerably extended since 1960. It is bordered to the north by Morecombe Bay, with the sea wall protecting the playing field from high tide. Carter's serves mainly the villages of Preesall and Knott-End-on-Sea, and the majority of pupils arrive at the school by the subsidised bus service. A broad curriculum is offered, based on the core subjects of the national curriculum. The school is proud of its considerable sporting success, particularly in football and netball. During the 1999 season, the teams won all four major competitions in their area. Other activities include cross-country, rounders, cricket, athletics, swimming and chess. The school is proud to be the only primary school in Lancashire to offer golf as an extra-curricular activity. The school aims to provide a width of education most suitable for the natural development of the individual child.
