Background:

Burnley Habergham High School was originally founded in 1559 but has been on its present site since 1959. The site has landscaped grounds and gardens and playing fields. The school is based on two sites, one being used mainly as the sixth-form centre. The school has a 'well-stocked' library and a reprographics centre in addition to specialist provision for art, music, science, PE and information technology. The school is proud of its extra-curricular achievements. There is an extensive range of sports fixtures most notably in cricket, football, cross-country and netball. Earlier this year the school was one of only 18 schools nationally to be granted Ambassador Status from the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth based at the University of Warwick. The school aims to provide an environment where expectations are realistically high and where the atmosphere is pleasant and rewarding, giving equal opportunities to all.
