Background:
The main school building was completed in 1970 and consists of seven classrooms. A new block with information and communications technology and disabled facilities was completed in 1998. The school also plans to further extend the building to provide a reprographics room and special education needs (SEN) room. St Bernadette's provides a 'broad range' of social experiences. Children have been involved in the Young Seasiders art competition, sporting events and school drama performances. Pupils in Year 5 are offered a weekend residential visit to an outdoor activity centre and in Year 6 there is an extended education visit to France. Extra-curricular activities include strings and brass tuition, football, netball, craft and dance, choir, athletics and chess. An out of school kids club has been established to provide after school care and a summer club is also being planned. The school has close links with the parish it serves and money is raised for both local and national charities.
