Background:
The first records of the school date back to 1590 when it was known as Broughton-in-Preston Grammar; now housed in a number of buildings, the oldest of which dates back to 1874 and the newest of which opened in 1997. There is a 16th-century cottage on site. The school is a member of the British Aerospace International Schools Network; opened a computer suite and CAD-CAM capability in 1997. Recent technology projects include Year 6 rocketry project. Links are maintained with schools in Malaysia, South Africa and Chile. Over-subscribed, with 1.2 applications per place. Before-school care, from 7.50am; after-school care, until 5.30pm. Learning Excellence Award (2006). Schools Curriculum Award (2004); Basic Skills Quality Mark (2005). Ethos: 'The school aims to provide a high quality education in a Christian setting whereby children can grow in knowledge and understanding, and acquire appropriate skills, attitudes and values'.
