Balderstone CE Primary School is situated in an attractive rural setting in the Mellor ward, north of Blackburn, and dates back to the 1860s. It is one of three schools serving the communities of Balderstone, Osbaldeston and Mellor Brook. Most pupils have experienced some form of pre-school education and settle quickly and easily into school routine. Parents have high expectations of their children and are very supportive of the school. The school has three classrooms with adjoining activity areas, a hall, library and resource area. Spacious grounds surround the building and these include a hard play area, a large playing field and an environmental area. Balderstone St Leonard's CE School has a caring ethos within a Christian framework.
