Background:
Woodbank School, a modern well-equipped establishment, was officially opened in September 1972. It is a popular community primary school, which serves a wide geographical area. Situated in a mixed residential area, approximately one and a half miles from the town centre of Bury, the school is a single storey brick building, which stands in well kept grounds and includes a small copse of mature areas. The accommodation includes a hall, nine classrooms, resource areas, libraries, computer suite, group teaching areas, a large playground and playing field and a well-fitted kitchen. The school endeavours to provide 'wraparound care' with the aforementioned facilities supported by the before and after school child care unit - 'Woodbank Oscars', which opened in April 2003. Woodbank School achieved the Healthy Schools Award in 2003. The school is a caring community where pupils learn to do new things well and improve on the achievements and where all work together in a spirit of co-operation. The school has generated an ethos and a well-deserved reputation for caring, quality and high standards.
