Background:

Ripley St Thomas is a voluntary aided comprehensive co-educational Church of England School founded in 1864 with 1584 pupils' aged 11 to 18 on roll. The school buildings and grounds are most attractive, occupying an elevated site giving open views to the City of Lancaster and the Lake District hills beyond. The school'site is spacious and contains some exceptional features, including good sports facilities, the school farm, plant centre and fine mature trees. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, cricket, hockey and rugby. There are also very strong community links, including community service in the sixth form, and pupils raise substantial funds for charity. It is a specialist Language College with international school status. The school enjoys close links with European and Asian School, through Leonardo projects or through direct exchanges. The quality and the extensive coverage of extra-curricular provision offered to pupils across a wide range are football, netball, tennis, athletics, rounders, cross-country and rugby. The school aims to develop to the full academic, spiritual, aesthetic and physical potential of each pupil, encouraging in all its members a real and living faith in God.
