Background:

Priory Technology College is a well-established, county, seven-form entry, co-educational, 11-16 comprehensive school in the borough of South Ribble. It is situated on a very pleasant rural site on the outskirts of Preston; the school was opened in 1953. It was generously equipped with a further building programme the mid-1970's. It has seven science laboratories with an additional information and communication technology suite, an integrated learning suite incorporating 20 plus computers, a graphic design studio incorporating and Apple Macintosh operating system and design benches, a cyber cafe with computers, extensive sports facilities including a sportshall, gymnasium, squash courts, a newly created sensory garden, modern cashless cafeteria-style dinning rooms. It has a wide range of extra-curricular activities including soccer, rugby, hockey, netball, tennis, cricket, athletics, badminton, gymnastics, trampoline, squash, weight training and orienteering courses. The college has achieved the awards: DfES achievement award in 2002, Sportsmark and Investor in People status. The ethos of the college community is to provide a positive and supportive environment in which all pupils can learn and achieve their maximum potential in all areas of their lives.
