Background:
Opened in 1995; set in growing area of England's newest city, with bright, airy buildings and wide grassy areas. Integral part of local community, used by Brownies, local ballet school and local boys' football team. Many extra-curricular activities in 'successful and happy' school: netball, football, hockey, cricket, tennis, tag rugby, art, sewing, gardening; Spanish taught by private organisation; takes part in annual Preston Schools' Music Festival. Parent, teacher and friends' association raise money for books, sporting equipment, and theatrical equipment. Charity fundraising to help the blind, Red Nose Day, Fox Street Mission, and Derian House Children's Hospice. Schools Curriculum Award (2003); DfES achievement award (2002).
