Background:
Bowerham School was the first to be built in the Lancaster and Morecambe district by the education authority after the 1890 Education Act made education free for all children. The school has new hall complex, four additional classrooms were built in the 1970's. The national curriculum provides programmes of study level descriptors in English, mathematics and science and the foundation subjects including history, geography, design technology, religious education, physical education, art and music. The school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities including athletics, chess, choir, cricket, cross-country, football, guitar, judo and netball. The school has developed its links with schools in Hungary, France and Austria. The school aims to create a positive and purposeful atmosphere within the school.
