Background:

The oldest part of the school dates back to 1867, with a central administration block built in 1966 and two extra classrooms and a resource area added in 1989. The most recent building was completed in 2000 to accommodate the increasing number of children at the school and includes a new Key Stage 1 classroom and resource area, library and computer suite with PCs. Pupils are drawn from a wide rural area, many from farms and houses situated in remote areas. There is no nursery provision but toddler, playgroup and pre-school sessions are held in the village hall. Extra-curricular activities include chess, football, cross-country running and swimming. Music plays a key role and there are recorder groups, brass, woodwind and violin lessons, and a school band. Sports fixtures are also organised against other schools both independently and as part of the Lune Valley Cluster. The school has a Christian ethos and provides a caring family environment for the children.The school provides a friendly and happy environment where the children feel secure and reach their potential.
