Background:
Queen Elizabeth School was founded in 1591. Formerly a grammar school, it is now a mixed comprehensive with an expanding sixth form. It has had foundation status since 1999. Sports include rugby, hockey, badminton, netball, athletics, tennis, football, cricket and rounders. Among the school's many clubs and societies are drama and music groups, young enterprise, amnesty, international, Christian Union, D of E and many student councils and committees. The charity team achieves national recognition. The range of courses offered at 14 and 16 is extensive and includes vocational alongside academic. Set within an outstandingly beautiful area, the school buildings are characterful, bright, well resourced small blocks and the landscaped site is very attractive. Queen Elizabeth School is a school committed to development and improvement. It has clear values, strong relationships and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
