Background:

Westhoughton High School is a mixed 11 to 18 community school with its own sixth form and over 1200 students on roll. It has excellent facilities and offers its students many opportunities to develop all of their talents. In the last few years, it has opened its new e-block, a purpose-built information and communication technology centre with additional rooms for teaching personal, social and health education, citizenship and for community use. It has eight fully equipped information technology suites, including four rooms in its brand new e-block, all with Microsoft software and internet access, 11 science laboratories, netball and tennis courts and purpose-built citizenship centre. The school curriculum covers the following subjects: English, mathematics, science, a modern foreign language, technology, information technology, geography, history, religious education, art, music, physical education, and personal, health and social education, including citizenship. The school aims to enable all students to achieve their full potential irrespective of age ability and background.
