Background:
The school was built in 1975 in large grounds in Clayton-le-Woods, close to Leyland. In addition to 'high achievement in all subjects' the school offers extra-curricular activities including chess, football, skittleball, country dancing, athletics, cricket, rounders and music. There is an after-school club for children whose parents are at work and 'close' links with the local community through the contact with the church, senior citizens and industry. Charity fund raising is usually organised by the children and includes Blue Peter appeals, Comic Relief and Blind Welfare.
