Background:
Set in 18-acre landscaped grounds, the school opened in modern buildings in 1975. It serves a large suburban and widespread rural community in the Wyre and Fylde areas. They offer 'close involvement' with pupils who have Special Educational Needs. The school considers its strengths to be in art, music and drama, while pupils compete at county level in tennis, table tennis, rugby, soccer and athletics. About 75% of pupils enter full-time further education, of whom about half go onto higher education. The school is 'consistently' over-subscribed.
