Background:
Bedford High School was found in 1976 when Leigh Grammar School and Manchester Road Secondary School combined on one large campus. The school has superb facilities with well-stocked learning resources with a library and two classrooms of computers all with internet access. There is a sports hall, gymnasium, several large playing fields and two drama studios. It also has art and design studios for painting, drawing, fabric painting, ceramics and pottery. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activties include cross-country, football, rugby, atheltics, netball and hockey. Educational visits are also arranged throughout the year to enhance the curriculum. The school endeavours to create opportunities for individual achievement within a purposeful supportive and caring environment.
