Background:
The current school building was built in 1994 and was opened by the Bishop of Leeds. The previous school is now the Parish Centre. It was built in 1913 and was used by the school from that date until the present building was opened. Barnoldswick is a historic cotton town. The Romans marched through the town nearly 2000 years ago. There was a fort at nearby Elslack. The Leeds canal runs through the town and Barnoldswick grew from a small village into an industrial town in the 1800s. It believes strongly in educating the children in a Foreign Language. French is taught in all classes with songs and games in Key Stage 1 and more formal scheme of work is followed in Key Stage 2. It also has experienced language teaching in Spanish, German, Greek and Japanese.
