Background:
Situated in a semi-rural residential area to the south of Ormskirk, the school opened in 1956 and was re-organised into it present form in 1970. The school has a wide catchment area, with 25 'feeder' primary schools, and is over-subscribed. Sporting success includes winning 18 soccer trophies in a five year period. Musical activities include regular productions and a choir and orchestra. The school offers support to those with Special Educational Needs. More than 90% of pupils carry on to Further Education, with most attending St John Rigby RC Sixth-form College at Orrell, near Wigan. 'Our overall aim is to provide a caring Catholic environment within which every pupil is enabled to develop his/her personality and abilities as fully as possible and to live a rich and satisfying personal life in accordance with the principles and teachings of the Catholic Church'.
