Background:
Rishton Methodist Primary School was opened in 1972. It has about three acres of grounds with a large grass area, two tarmac playgrounds and benches for seating areas. There are nine classrooms, a computer suite, early years play area, library and group areas and a school hall which is used for physical education (PE), performances, dining and Worship. All areas of the school are in excellent decorative order and there is a rolling programme of maintenance and repair. Rishton Methodist School is a "Voluntarily Controlled" Primary School. All aspects of the school's life are under the control of the Governing Body in conjunction with the County Education Authority (Lancashire). The Methodist Church is the trustee for the property. The local minister regularly leads a non-denominational assembly in school. A Christian assembly is held each day in school for all pupils. 'Rishton Methodist Controlled Primary School develops, educates and nurtures the whole child to his or her potential within the context of Christian beliefs, practice and values'.
