Background:
The large school has been serving the South Shore area of Blackpool since 1903. It is built around two halls with additional extensions and a separate canteen. It enjoys good facilities including a well stocked library, good music department three hard surface areas and, although the school has no grass play area, an all weather surface was recently laid in the Key Stage 2 yard. There is a modern computer in every classroom and a new computer suite. A variety of extra-curricular activities is offered and these include country dancing, computing, football and netball. The school also has an 'excellent' choir and pupils regularly support local and national charities. Strong links are maintained with the local community and there is a parent teachers and friends association. An after-school club is open from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Thames Primary has received Investor in People status.
