Background:
St Paul's Penny School and St Paul's Sunday School were originally founded in 1840, but the school now occupies a building which opened in 1967. The school is surrounded by woodland and has two playgrounds, which incorporates an adventure playground. There is an environmental study area within the school grounds which comprises a pond, wildlife area, and an outdoor classroom with picnic tables. St Paul's has close links with the parish which uses the school for Sunday School, Brownies, Guides, Church Brigade and other activities. There is an 'active and dedicated' Parent Teacher Association which raises money for the school and runs social events. 'St Paul's is a family school, many of the parents and grandparents of our pupils were once pupils themselves. We are a happy, caring community'.
