Background:
Founded in 1886, the school now occupies a spacious site which opened in 1971, overlooking the village of Arnside and the Kent estuary. The well-maintained single-storey building consists of four main teaching spaces and a central hall. The school offers a wide variety of sporting experiences and additional activities for all pupils such as extra-curricular dance, gymnastics and violin tuition. Pupils enjoy regular football matches with other schools and there is summer coaching from rugby and cricket specialists. The school has close links with the local community and raises considerable amounts for local and national charities. There is an active parent-teacher association which takes great interest in the work of the school and organises fundraising events. Beacon status (2000).
